She's "Sister Freeman" now...
Let me tell you about our day....
Summer has been packing all day. We got everything packed and the luggage weighed 6 pounds over between the two pieces. We took things out like the winter coat and 3 t-shirts, 5-10 pairs of socks and 3 undershirts. The luggage still weighs 6 pounds over. But in the process of taking things out we found this shirt...
You know we should take a beer advertisement shirt on our mission because "we have no clue that lucky is a beer". (The back story to owning this shirt. I think it was Lex 8th grade and she wanted to where something green for St. Patty's day. I found this shirt cheap at Walmart. She went off to school with the green shirt. About 10 o'clock, I get a phone call from the principal and I'm asked if I know Lex is wearing a beer shirt. MMMMM.....no. After getting his laughter under control, the principal told me that Lucky is a beer and he thought that I probably didn't know it was a beer shirt and that Lex wasn't going to be punished for wearing it. You know, ignorance is bliss...)So I sighed a sigh of relief and thought we dodge a bullet with that one.
Then we went through her messenger bag, basically the bag with all the books and she has 2-blue books of Mormon in there but not her scriptures. I asked her where her scriptures were and she said that everyone told her not to take her scripture. I about died. First of all, who told you you shouldn't take your scriptures. I was getting on the phone with Aunt Erica right then to ask her. And reading the mission paperwork to see where it says take your scriptures. Then she says, "Oh, I'm not going to take the YW ribbons from doing all her personal progress stuff. That's what everyone said not to take. They get in the way." Yes 25 ribbons would get in the way. Thank goodness, disaster averted. Another bullet dodged.
Oh the stories keep coming. She received a letter from her mission asking for her to bring a GSP. Sister missionaries tend to get lost. I can see that. So she had her GPS plugged in for several days "charging it" but it wouldn't work when she unplugged it. Another discussion well if it doesn't work let's send it back and get one that does. And does it take batteries? After searching around for the instruction manual, sure enough it takes batteries and is now fully functioning...
We went to have Sum set apart as a missionary and realized that we locked the keys in the van. Another tender mercy as the van AC has been broken down all summer so I have left the windows cracked a bit, not enough to get your whole arm in but enough to get a long handled pair of tongs from the church kitchen in. Yes we used tongs to unlock the doors. I wish Sum would have done it just for the experience but it was Lex who got to save the day. Interesting day. And as of right now, I only have to mail two things to her!!
