Well, this week has been up and down. Started out really good!  Monday  was P-day,  Tuesday  we had zone conference with Elder Snow from the 70, trade-offs on MSU campus  on Wednesday  with Sister Knight and Sister Fletcher, then sick days in our apartment for  Thursday  and  Friday . We were told to stay inside because it's not gonna do any good if we are out and about getting other people sick. I guess it was good that we didn't have a car last week or else we would've been out and about talking to people. We thought that we were feeling better  on Saturday  to go out so we started walking from one side of Okemos to the other before getting drained of all energy not even halfway through our walk. We had a miracle happen that day though! So, since we were both tired, Sister Newby sat down on the sidewalk and decided to contact members and see if there was any service that we could do for them preferably inside service though since the weather  on Saturday  was 93 degrees

Mom- Things are going great here!  Today, we had service (which we do every Thursday) at a place called Bickford which is a place for Elderly people.  We go in from 1-3pm and do people’s nails.  Doesn’t sound that bad, right?  I know now how to file, paint nails “properly”, how to clip nails to an appropriate length, and also how to get poop out from under nails.  So when you get to be these people’s age, I call taking care of your mails.  Believe me, I’m a pro now.  Today though there was a grouchy lady who had me do her nails.  I filed and go the poop from under her nails then started putting pink nail polish on her nails, finished two fingers before she said a nail on her other hand was too long.  So I stopped and went back to filing it down for her.  Finally after asking her quite a few times if it was a good length for her, she finally let me get back to the nail polish.  Of course, by that time she had decided that the pink she had chosen was “too bright” . So I took the nail

The weather here is bipolar! Yesterday afternoon it was 92 degrees!! By 5 in the evening, storm clouds were gathering. All of a sudden a downpour happened! We got in the car, drove for about 2 to 3 minutes, and then the rain stopped and it was like it hadn't even happened. It was definitely interesting. Dude, I have no idea. The only thing that people wear here are shirts to support MSU so that's about all I know for dress up ideas!  Reading your scriptures is a huge part of making your day better. We had a 70 come and talk to us at Stake Conference this weekend and he said that if we take the time first to read and to feel peace and happiness in your life, pretty soon you will be reading to know how to become better. It's definitely something that I've taken to heart. He said to buy a new Book of Mormon each time you want to learn more about a specific principle of the gospel. I'm so excited for you and I know that through scripture study and daily prayer, everyt

When you're being trained you can't drive for 12 weeks haha so no one from our district out here in Michigan can drive yet! But anyways, another funny story to tell you about. My trainer screamed on a doorstep on Tuesday! It was hilarious!  So, we were walking up to this house and I honestly did not have a good feeling about this house. I even told my companion! But, she said we would go and knock it anyways. We go and knock on the door and this door is kind of weird, too. It has windows going down the middle of it. So, after knocking my companion and I start talking and then she looks back to the door and just screams! The old lady who lives there is literally staring out one of the windows on the door just staring at us! She had a huge smile and huge eyes so she even looked scary. She just told us that she wasn't interested (also in a creepy voice) and then slowly started to back away from the door still smiling at us. My companion told me that that was all part of th

Because of transfers on Monday, Sister Freeman emailed on Saturday this week. I am so excited for Cole to get back out to Detroit! He's gonna help a lot of people!! I shared the Bode vs gravel road story with Summer.  This is her response Sis F: I may or may not have felt the Spirit really strong while reading that. I have been praying for Bode every morning and night to read his scriptures and to pray so hearing that he said his personal prayer that morning was a real answer to my prayers. I am so glad that he is learning to rely on the Lord because that is where true strength comes from. I'm also glad that he was alright and that nothing really serious happened. Besides, isn't it sometimes in the oddest of ways that Heavenly Father helps you to gain a testimony and to trust Him? Make sure that Bode writes that experience down in a journal so that he remembers it. Also, ask him if he said a prayer thanking Heavenly Father for keeping him safe.  Me: As we discussed

Another Miracle-benefits of a missionary???

We had an interesting experience yesterday.  Bode was driving the van to catch his ride and he was going to fast on the gravel and ended up driving off the road into the neighbor's stack yard.  The result was the van ended up with a ruined back tire that's it.  Eric came along behind him a few minutes later and Bode was walking to Smith's to ask for help...he forgot his cell phone.  After further examination of the tracks, the result of a flat tire and the van ending up on all four wheels without rolling was miraculous.  As we talked about it last night there were several things discussed... 1.  What happened?  How it happened? -excess speed, slow down!! What was done right, what was done wrong.  He rode it out and didn't try to NOT run off the road. 2.  Why dad wasn't mad?  Bode knew Eric was going to kill him.  But Eric was calm and kind and glad Bode wasn't hurt.  An expensive way to learn a lesson but an effective one. 3.  Why Bode was protected?  Eric an

I am doing great! This week has been super fun! During the week we visited/ had dinner with a less active in the ward. She is so cool! She has had a hard life but she is always talking about Christ so you can tell that she has a lot of faith even through all of her trials.  On Saturday  night us and the Elders were able to judge the pie and chili cook off. The chili wasn't too hot so I was doing fine. All the pies were good, too! Then all of a sudden Brother Taylor decides to bring out some of the hottest chili I have ever had in my life and enter it into the contest. So of course I had to eat it. The Elders ate it first and said that it was really hot! I almost didn't eat it! Finally I got over being such a baby and ate it. Elder Call said that as soon as it was in my mouth my face just dropped! It was so hot that I started to cry and get a runny nose and I started sweating a little too! Of course after that little show almost half of the ward knew about it by the end of the n
